The Complete Guide to Gig Finder (ReverbNation Legacy)

Please Note: Gig Finder is exclusively available on ReverbNation Legacy. To access the venue database and submit booking requests, you will need to switch back to your Legacy dashboard.

Use the sections below to learn how to utilize Gig Finder to discover venues and submit booking requests for your upcoming shows.

1. What is Gig Finder?

Gig Finder is one of the largest free venue databases in the world. It can recommend venues that fit you based on where you’ve played in the past, where comparable artists like you play when they tour, and venues that typically book your specific genre of music!

You can access it directly by navigating to Tools > Gig Finder in your legacy artist profile.

2. Finding, Filtering, and Sharing Venues

Searching for Specific Venues

Know exactly what you’re looking for? Search for venues by name by tapping “Find Venue by Name” from the Search page, or directly from the main menu bar.

Filtering the Results

Tap the Search bar at the top of the home screen, then enter any location into the primary search bar (city, state, or ZIP). You can narrow your search results even more by using powerful filters to drill down by:

  • Venue capacity
  • Primary genres
  • Where similar artists have played
  • Venues similar to other venues you know

Tap "Search" when you’re ready to see your filtered results.

Sharing Venue Pages

You can easily share venue pages with your bandmates or friends. Tap into any venue page and click the ‘share’ icon in the upper-right corner. Share via chat, email, or your favorite social media sites. Don’t see an option for your preferred site? Use the ‘copy’ function to store the venue link on your clipboard so you can paste it anywhere.

3. How to Submit a Booking Request

Connecting with venues is simple. Once you find a venue you are interested in, follow these steps:

  1. Click or tap the red Booking Request button from the venue's page.
  2. Fill out the booking request form with your availability dates.
  3. Customize your message to the venue, and click Submit.

What happens next?

We will deliver your message and your Reverb Press Kit (RPK) instantly via email directly to the booking contact on file for the venue. We also send an internal message on ReverbNation and add your submission to the venue’s booking dashboard. From there, venues can easily review your songs, photos, availability, and custom message all in one place.

Venues will reply to you directly via email and internal message on ReverbNation.

4. Requirements & Best Practices

Reverb Press Kit (RPK) Requirement

You will need an active Basic subscription to submit booking requests.

An RPK is an electronic press kit that allows you to send key information about your band to agents, labels, managers, and venues in order to get your band more exposure and book shows. Unlike other digital press kits, RPKs include customizable traits and statistics regarding your band’s online presence. If you don’t already have an RPK subscription, you can sign up through your legacy Artist Control Room under Tools > Press Kits.

Tips for the Best Response Rate

To get the best response from venues, be sure to update your profile with a complete bio, new songs, photos, videos, and show dates before submitting your request. We also highly recommend connecting your Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts so venues know exactly how many fans you have!

5. Email Deliverability (DMARC Policies)

Recently, popular email providers such as Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail have changed their DMARC policies to stop fraudulent emails. Because of this change, many email receivers started bouncing emails received from these addresses. To ensure your booking inquiries are delivered, do not send them from any of these free email addresses.

Using a Custom Domain

We highly recommend using a custom domain for your account’s email address instead of trying to find a temporary solution by switching to another freemail provider. Using your own custom domain will prevent future deliverability issues caused by sudden changes such as these.

If you need help registering a new domain or custom email address, we recommend looking into ReverbNation’s Site Builder product, which allows artists to register their own custom domains and email addresses.

Our Automatic Fallback Solution

If you can’t register your own domain, we’ll give you a safe "From" email address to ensure your email is successfully delivered. We’ll automatically add mailsender@reverbnationapp.com to your "From" email address to comply with this policy and help get your booking inquiries delivered directly to venues.
