Any discrepancy between "Number of Sales" and "Total Earnings" is due to the varying royalty structures of different digital retailers and separately because "Number of Sales" encompasses streams in addition to downloads (you earn significantly less royalties per stream than for downloads).
Spotify and other streaming services allow listeners to stream (but not download) your content and generally provide royalties in fractions of a cent per stream. More information about how Spotify distributes royalties is available here. Other streaming retailers typically use a similar royalty structure.
